A Whole New World of Virtual Learning

“Do you trust me?”

That is the memorable line from Disney’s Aladdin when Aladdin extended his hand to Jasmine and invited her to step from her very secure and familiar balcony and onto his flying carpet – eventually breaking out in the endearing hit “A Whole New World.”

In many ways, we’re living in a whole new world, right now, but this moment that doesn’t give us the same warm fuzzies that Aladdin and Jasmine experienced, and it’s not the type of adventure we really wanted, but it is an opportunity nonetheless. This is a time when we may be choosing to step off some secure “balconies” in our lives, and we may feel like we’ve been tossed off some, too.

When it comes to professional development, our team has been stepping off our balconies each day. We’ve been writing new trainings and rewriting old trainings to better fit the virtual learning environment. We’ve even started our first virtual PLC, and we look forward to starting more soon!

The process has been a collection of challenging, overwhelming, exciting, informative, discouraging, creative and insightful experiences. We’re still learning, but we feel pretty good about where we are and where we’re going. Sometimes, we’re clinging to our “magic carpet” of virtual training , but we’re increasingly able to just breathe, relax, and appreciate the new view.

We want you to enjoy the new view with us, if you haven’t already, and join us on this magic carpet ride of professional development.

We realize that we’re asking you to trust us. First, we’re asking you to trust that we will provide the support and tools you need to thrive in the many situations, relationships, rules and goals you navigate each day. Second, we’re asking you to trust that we will respect you and your time, experience, knowledge, circumstances, needs and more.

We also realize that life is full of complications, right now, and professional development may be something that is low on your priority list . We understand. Professional development and support are important, but you have a lot of important decisions and tasks to handle. We’re trying to make the experiences as helpful as possible in their content, cost and availability.

There’s no rush on our end for you to trust or join us. We just want you to know that we’re here for you – “Zooming” and “WebExing” around the sky on our magic carpet. Take the leap when you’re ready!

For our upcoming trainings, visit our events page. We’re experimenting with days and times, so let us know if you are looking for training on certain days and times.

To help you prepare for success, we’ve created this resource for you!
