In this interactive session we will explore how monitoring the development of young children helps to strengthen their families. We will explore free easily accessible resources for monitoring young children’s development, including the CDC’s Learn the Signs. Act Early. resources. We will discuss how to use these materials to help strengthen families’ engagement in their child’s early learning and development.

 

In this session, you will learn about:

  • What developmental monitoring is and how it differs from developmental screening and evaluation
  • Free resources available to assist families and professionals in monitoring children’s development
  • How to use these materials to help strengthen families’ engagement in their child’s early learning and development

 

Presenter:Bridget Ratajczak is the Child and Family Development Supervisor, Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning: Bright from the Start and the CDC’s Act Early Ambassador for Georgia. Mrs. Ratajczak provides support for early childhood professionals and families on the topics of developmental monitoring, child development and family engagement. She has a M.A. in early childhood special education from the University of Georgia. Her extensive experience in early childhood education and special education includes an instructor at the University of Georgia’s Birth through Kindergarten teacher preparation program, early intervention specialist with the Babies Can’t Wait early intervention program and a preschool special-education teacher in Athens, Georgia.Audience:This 60-minute webinar is intended for professionals who work with or care for young children, as well as professionals who support families with young children. It may also be useful to parents and other family members of young children.

 

Level:

This is a beginning-level webinar. It is intended to support foundational knowledge for professionals related to child development and the brain.

How to Attend the Webinar:

  • The webinar will take place on Zoom. To register for the webinar, go to . Only those who register will receive the link to join the meeting.
  • certificate of attendance will be emailed to interested participants who attend the entire webinar live and complete a request for a certificate within 24 hours of completing the webinar. Instructions for requesting certificates will be provided at the end of the webinar for those who have attended the entire session.
  • A recording of the webinar and copies of the presentation slides will be available at http://www.bbbgeorgia.org/BBBwebinars.php a few days after the session.  You will also be able to view the recording on the BBB channel on YouTube.
